i’ve never really tackled anything steampunk before – hence all my cheating with all the smoke. that said though, i’m pretty happy with the way this piece turned out. especially the metal – i’m definitely happy with the way that turned out. i was surprised with how long it actually took to do it though. well, onto the next one!

aside from getting my grubby little hands on books before anyone else, another perk of working in the back room of a bookstore is a constant supply of cardboard for me to take home and paint on. that said, looking at this now, i realize that there are a lot of things that could have done differently. oh well, live and learn.
… i got lost somewhere along the way.

so… 223 days (?) since my last post. sucks all sorts of tiddly-winks, eh? well, here i am again, at the raggedy edge, hoping that i could stick to posting at least once a week in my charge to get my life in order. more than just once for this week though, i should think.
just past 6 am in the morn… am i actually up early?! nah, i didn’t sleep.
why? well, one chunk of it is that i finally got around to updating the old website – jaydellomes.com, and by updating, i mean rebuilding the sucker from the ground up! things were rearranged, and a couple of others were added so take a look, maybe you’ll find something new to you.
the other chunk is that i get to stalk my buddy tessar lo all the way down south of the border to san fransisco…
um… no, that’s not it.
well, it’s partly true since i am headed down to san fran today, but not because i’m following tessar. seriously.
thing is, the family is going on vacation down there, and i’m freakin’ excited. it’s an extremely welcome change from the usual long drive down to buffalo or chicago for vacations tailored more towards my mom and sis (read: lots of shopping). actually, come to think of it, they’re gonna be shopping in SF too… but that doesn’t really matter. what matters is that i get to ride on a plane. there won’t be any snakes on board (hopefully), but i’m gonna be on a m*ther f*cking plane. vacations don’t feel like vacations until you’re on a plane. that and i haven’t been on one since we arrived in canada nearly 11 years ago (about 2.5 more weeks until THAT anniversary).
the bottom line? i’m excited about riding on a plane. what can i say, i’m a big kid.

so now that’s been said, there’s something special about plane flights and my family. namely, my sister’s birthday has had a tendency to land on days when we’re in the air. it happened a couple of times between saudi and the philippines. hell, it even happened when we arrived in canada (i believe it her longest birthday ever). that tendency along with today’s flight, came together in my head to spit out his piece.
it’s just too bad that we’re a tad too early for it to sync up again this time.

ahem. first things first.
GO SEE TRANSFORMERS NOW! FREAKIN’. AWESOME. MOVIE.
i was geekily cheering through practically the whole thing. seriously. ask my sister. she kept telling me to shut up through practically the whole thing.

and oh, looks like i’m being somewhat productive with personal work.
between being forced into becoming the family vacation planner, my 60 min exercises, attempting to write up a cohesive graphic novel and trying to clean up after my brother and sister, i managed to squeeze out a big piece for myself. now the only problem is the task of scanning the sucker so i can color it. the mere thought of scanning this 4 times and piecing it together in photoshop makes me lazy.
