johnware update: version 1.01?

edit: i really, really should read over what i type a hundred times before clicking the little post button… these mistakes make me sound so cynical…

i’ve been experimenting lately (which is technically a can sometimes be a bad thing since me and experiments have a bad history when i do it outside of art. ie: brother’s finger + electrical socket = don’t ask). but then again maybe this time it’s a good thing?

its done. 14 weeks of work crammed into a little 60 page book.

this thing took a lot of my time.
i had to relearn how to use inDesign.
it was expensive to get printed.

but you know what? so totally worth it. its not perfect by any means, but having it in a nice little package all together and finished made all the effort worthwhile.

…now i just need to start cracking on volume 1! O_o

stretched thin

first off: sorry REY. i want to work in the studio instead of my little cave of a basement apartment, but ive been nocturnal the whole week and sleep in the afternoons until around 11-12 in the evening. sucks, really. ive only been going to the studio a few times but miss the fun already. blame my really bad time management skills.

yeah, okay, so on with the post…

this piece is, i believe, the first one that i have ever tackled completely digitally. hell, even my design pieces from last sem had traditional elements scanned and panned in. this 22×8.5 inch baby was done completely digitally though. why doesn’t it look like it’s 22 inches long? well, that’s because this is how it looks folded.

strolling down memory lane

narrative and altered ego are my fav classes this semester. although you wouldn’t know it since i don’t seem to show up for class. i mean, NATALY was wondering about my presence in altered ego this past monday…

anyway, this project is for narrative and involves moments that invokes memories. it is also suposed to be 3 pages but i did 5 instead. why? well, 2 things really: 1. because i wanted a slower pace – its supposed to reminiscing about the past after all, and things tend to slow down when that happens, right? and 2. i wanted to push myself.

i havnt really been doing much in terms of digital work this semester. i think i only did one piece, really, and that was it. which is weird cuz ive usually opted to go the digital route with my pieces.

growth as an artist? hm, i dont know. maybe. about bloody time if it is. i mean, couldnt i have done it during 2nd year at least, instead of now in 4th? oh wells, better late than never.

30 min – ps cs2 – no ref – and cuz i couldnt sleep
